The bandana is the character
Four brothers, four colours — that is the entire identification system, and it is why this is one of the most efficient group costumes available. Everybody wears essentially the same outfit and each person is still distinct.
Children are usually firm about which turtle they are, and it is almost always about the colour rather than anything else.
Shells
The shell is what gives the silhouette. Moulded shells look the most accurate and stick out behind, which makes sitting down awkward — worth considering for a party with a meal. Printed and soft-padded shells are more comfortable and read almost as well.
Group costumes
Four turtles is a complete group with no leftover characters and no weak part. Add a fifth costume from the wider range and the theme still holds together.
Weapons and props
Each brother carries a different weapon, and the props are what confirm the character alongside the bandana colour. Foam versions are light enough to hold all evening. Check event and school policies on props beforehand, as some have them.
Comfort
Muscle-padded turtle suits run warm and fit closer than their age label suggests. Separates with a soft shell are the cooler option for a long afternoon.
