Four colours, four characters

Each character is identified by colour and by the shape of the aerial on the head — that is the entire costume. It is a theme where nobody in the group gets a lesser part, and where every member is recognisable from across a room.

Why it works for adults

Teletubbies has become a staple adult group costume, largely because it is instantly recognisable, requires no explanation, and looks better the more people commit to it. A group of four adults in full suits gets a reaction that a group of four unrelated costumes never will.

The aerials

The aerial is the identifying detail. A coloured suit without one reads as a coloured suit. Attached hood aerials stay put; separate headband versions are more comfortable but shift with movement.

Comfort and heat

These are padded full-body suits, and they are among the warmest costumes in the range. For an outdoor event in spring, plan for it — the suits are not something you will want on for six hours in the sun.

Sizing

Padded suits fit closer than their labelled size implies once the padding is accounted for. Choose the larger option if you are between two, particularly if you intend to wear clothes underneath.
