Jumpsuit and pack

The costume is two pieces: a tan boiler suit with the shoulder patch, and the proton pack worn on the back. The pack is what makes it read as Ghostbusters rather than a mechanic, and it is the piece worth prioritising.

Inflatable and foam packs are light enough to wear for a whole evening. Heavier moulded versions look better and get taken off sooner.

Four people in identical jumpsuits with different name badges is a complete group with no hierarchy and no awkward parts. It works for adults, for families, and for a group where not everyone wants to be conspicuous.

Comfort

Jumpsuits are one of the more comfortable adult costume formats — full coverage, no padding, no mask, and nothing that restricts movement. They do run warm in a crowded room, and short-sleeved versions exist.

For children

Child jumpsuits with a soft foam pack are among the easier full costumes for a younger child to wear for a long event, since there is nothing on the face and nothing to hold.
