Which Spider-Man does your child mean

This is the question worth asking before you order. Spider-Man has appeared in so many films, series and games that children usually have one specific version in mind, and the suits differ noticeably — the classic comic colours, the darker red of the recent films, the black and red animated design, and the various team-up suits.

A child who has watched one version will spot a substitution immediately. Two minutes of asking saves a disappointed morning.

Mask or hood

Full-face fabric masks give the complete silhouette and are what most children want. They also restrict vision more than parents expect, particularly the eye-piece designs with moulded lenses.

Hood-style tops that pull back off the face are the practical alternative for a long party or a school day, since the child can push it back whenever they need to eat, drink or see properly.

Muscle detail and fit
